Hubertina "Tieny" Linsalata, known to many as "Oma", age 89, passed away at her residence in Reva, VA, Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Tieny was born in Holland June 21, 1923, to Herbert and Maria Hennen. She met her husband, Raymond Shackleford, during the liberation of The Netherlands in 1946. They returned to Berryville, VA, and later moved to Riverdale, MD. She retired from the Civil Service Commission Credit Union where she was the manager. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and playing Bingo. She met her husband, Raymond Shackleford, during the liberation of The Netherlands in 1946. They returned to Berryville, VA, and later moved to Riverdale, MD. She retired from the Civil Service Commission Credit Union where she was the manager. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and playing Bingo.
Surviving Tieny is her daughter, Rosemary Burgess and her husband Larry of Reva, VA; her brother, Sjef Hennen of the Netherlands; five grandchildren, Raymond Shackleford, Ryan Shackleford, Ronnie Shackleford and his wife Laura, Richie Burgess and his wife Tina, and Chad Burgess and his wife Beverly; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Burgess and Hallie and Anne Shackleford; her niece, Christel Raasch and her husband Jeff; and sister-in-law, Veva Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Maria Scholly, a brother, Herbert Hennen, and a son, Fred Shackleford.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, Culpeper, VA. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with a private interment to follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, VA.
