Hugh Donald Young, age 87, beloved husband, father, brother and friend to many passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Hospital with his family at his side.
Mr. Young was born on May 16, 1928 in Hackleburg, AL, to Alexander and Laura Young. He was married to Edith Branham Young of Wise County, VA for 60 years. Together they raised three children, Teresa, Robin and Billy in the Northern Virginia area.
Don and Edith moved to Williamsburg in 2005, where Don spent the rest of his days. Don served in the United States Army from 1948 – 1955, including service during the Korean Conflict (1950 – 1953). During his service, Don was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Edith, his daughter, Teresa Hedrick (Ronald); sons, Robin (Connie) and Billy; brothers, James, Paul, Jackie, sisters Edna Dockery, Ann Gregory (Buck); and grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Kristopher, and Kirsten.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road Williamsburg, Virginia 23185, where a Service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 1:00pm.
