Irma Sloan Baker, 89, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at her home, in Fort Pierce, FL.
Born in Plant City, FL she has been a resident of Fort Pierce, FL for over 60 years.
Prior to retirement, she worked for the City of Fort Pierce, FL for 10 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL. She was the former president of the Women's Club of Fort Pierce, FL and loved gardening.
Survivors include, sons, David Sloan, of St. Cloud, FL, and Franklin Sloan, of Fort Pierce, FL, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands Edward Baker and Wilford Franklin Sloan, Sr., father, Charles J. Haney, mother, Winnie L. Haney, brothers, Joseph E. Haney and Clifford Haney, sisters, Rita Faulker, Donnie Cowart, Ruby Windsor, Murel Griffin, Pearl Hamm, Juanita Hough, Beady Scott, Verla Ellis and Buelah Noon and great grandson, Anthony Amedure.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, Fort Pierce, FL, 5000 Dunn Road Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL from 2:00-3:00pm, with a service to follow at 3:00pm, with Pastor Dale Ingersoll officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, FL.
Arrangements are under the care of Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL.
