BARRON Ida - The family of Ida Barron (nee Oswald) sadly announces her passing at Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie, on February 19, 2013. Born in 1924 in Hniezdne, Slovakia, she came to Canada as a young child. Predeceased by her husband Ernest, son William and brother Karl. Lovingly remembered by her son Paul (Anne), daughter Judie Sparling (Les), daughter-in-law Carol, grandsons Matthew (Tess), Stephen (Kelly) and Sandy (Sonia) and great-granddaughters Emma and Charlotte. BARRON Ida - The family of Ida Barron (nee Oswald) sadly announces her passing at Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie, on February 19, 2013. Born in 1924 in Hniezdne, Slovakia, she came to Canada as a young child. Predeceased by her husband Ernest, son William and brother Karl. Lovingly remembered by her son Paul (Anne), daughter Judie Sparling (Les), daughter-in-law Carol, grandsons Matthew (Tess), Stephen (Kelly) and Sandy (Sonia) and great-granddaughters Emma and Charlotte. Also survived by sisters Margaret and Helen, brother Paul (Marianne) and their families. Ida and Ernie enjoyed their Sandy Lake cottage with their family and many friends for over four decades. Many winters spent in Florida brought others into their circle of friends. In 2010 Ida travelled with Paul and Anne to Slovakia where she met for the first time numerous relatives from both sides of her parents' families.
The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care of the staff at Plymouth Cordage Retirement Home and Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Care. Special thanks to Dr. Scher. Cremation has taken place. Two Memorial Services will be held to celebrate Ida's life. The first will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Plymouth Cordage Retirement Home, 110 First Ave. Welland, ON and the second will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. James United Church, 221 Romaine St. Peterborough, ON In lieu of flowers, donations to the Douglas Memorial Hospital Foundation or the are appreciated and may be made through the offices of HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. St. Catharines (905-684-6346).
