Ina Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2011.

Ina Mae Hardin Allen of McGregor passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2011, at the age of 92. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby. Viewing will commence at 8 A.M. Friday with a formal visitation being from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen was born February 28, 1919, in Jarrell, Texas, the daughter of the late Joe H. and Mattie Elizabeth (Pickens) Hardin. She lived most of her adult life in the McGregor and Oglesby area. On August 13, 1938, she married James Rayford Allen in Gatesville, Texas. After sixty-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death February 22, 2001. Their marriage was said to be a loving relationship as she was always willing and happy to give of her time and resources to help her family.
As a descendant of the Hardin and Pickens families that moved from Tennessee to Texas in the 1830's, she inherited an attitude of self sufficiency and independence. Ina Mae was reared during the recession which fostered a spirit of hard work, conservation of resources and a strong sense of social and financial responsibility.

Ina Mae was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed crochet, embroidery, cooking and traveling; especially for and with her family.

Also preceding her in death was an infant brother; an infant grandson, a niece Cathy Brown and her brother-in-law, Lee Brown.

Survivors include a son Jimmy Allen and wife, Mary of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter, Judy Chaudoin and husband Frank of McGregor; a twin sister, Iva Jane Brown of Mound; four grandchildren, Aubrey Chaudoin and wife Michelle, Tate Chaudoin, Jeffrey Allen and Amy Allen; four great grandchildren, Hunter Chaudoin, Brooke Chaudoin, Bailey Allen and Alexa LaPlace; nieces Belva Brown Clark and Betty Brown Smith along with their families.

The family takes this opportunity to thank Dr. Carl Chakmakjian and his staff and Providence Hospice for the excellent care given to Ina Mae.

Dear Jimmy and Mary, Judy and Frankie and families.
We will miss Mrs. Allen very much. Although not always possible to visit with her upon her visits to Baton Rouge, it was always a pleasure when we were able to visit with her. Be comforted in knowing that she is back again with Mr. Allen and that you are all in the thoughts and prayer of your friends and family members.

Well granny you have fought a long hard fight, now you get to be up there with papa and im sure yall are enjoying every bit of it. Ill always remember your warm caring heart, and your homemade cooking. Ill never forgot when I use to ride in the little brown ford pickup that you and papa had, and how I would stand up in the front seat and touch the ceiling. Ill never forgot how you and papa came to all of my football and baseball games, and how we use to go fishing at Uncle Earnests tanks. Those were some of the biggest catfish I ever caught. Ive learned a lot these past couple of days about life and love, you never should take a day for grantide and should tell those close to you that you love them every chance you get. You never know when that person may not be there the next day for you to. Im sure yall are both up there right now looking down on us. P.S. Tell papa hi for me and that I love and miss both of yall.

Love your little grandson Tater

"I have fought a good fight.I have finished my course,I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Rest well Granny. Give PaPaw & all our family in Heaven our XO's. Give Jared special ones from me & Lex; each day Lex is so much more just like the you both. Your spirit was the strongest, most generous. Not even cancer could harm your mighty heart. Enjoy your Heavenly reward. You're surrounded with our favorite angels. Love you always and forever, Amy & Alexa Leigh
PS. I will miss your cornbread dressing, your Mexican casserole, your chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, and grilled cheese sandwiches too.
And I will feel your warmth each time we snuggle up in your divine quilts.
It was a pleasure to always be your only granddaughter. I loved being your special girl every single second of it.
