NORTHPORT - Inez Smith Robertson, age 89, of Northport, Alabama, made her celestial passage to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2017 after an extended illness peacefully in her home.
Inez, aka Mom, was born to the late James and Myrtice Smith of Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her brothers Jim of Winfield, Alabama, Morris of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Bobby of Louisiana; and sister, Doris Watkins of Akron, Alabama also preceded her in death.
She was married 62 years to the late James Robertson of Northport, Alabama to whom she was totally devoted.
She was a member of Northport Baptist Church and took great pride in singing in the choir and playing the piano by ear for over 40 years.
Inez worked in and retired from the Tuscaloosa County Court system. First she worked for the Honorable Judge Fred Nichols and later for the District Attorney's office. She was known as the lady who would type inaudible over the offensive language during transcriptions.
Mom's real love was her family. Always making sure that each person had everything they needed with a lot of love mixed in. She made no difference between in laws and natural children teaching each valuable life lessons until her final days.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Keith) of Dawsonville, Ga., Jimmy of Northport, Alabama and Fred (Shelia) of Northport, Alabama; brother, Ellis (Libby) of Kingsport, Tennessee; as well as several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank the caregivers Deanne Vice, Tammie Sullivan, Dianne Upton, Dale Jones, Mary Wood along with the people from Alabama Hospice and Amedisys Hospice for giving Mom the comfort and care in her final years.
The funeral will be Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. preceded by visitation beginning at 12:00 noon at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama with a burial service at New Hope Baptist Church in Romulus, Alabama.
