Innaiah Pothacamury
5/2/1941 – 3/9/2014
Innaiah Pothacamury, 72, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2014. Born May 2, 1941, in Guntur, India, he was the son of late Rayanna and Dhyrnamma Pothacamury.
The eldest of four children, Innaiah graduated from Loyola College, and obtained Masters Degrees from Andhra University and Michigan State University. A geologist by profession, Innaiah worked for the Department of Natural Resources, State of Michigan, until his retirement fourteen years ago. A longtime resident of East Lansing, Michigan, since 1966, Innaiah has been a staple fixture in the Indian community.
Married to Lakshmi, on May 15, 1974, Innaiah has always been a very open hearted and welcoming person. His love of faith and the Catholic traditions worked in tandem with his desire to lend a helping hand to friends, old and new. An ardent learner and consummate technologist, Innaiah connected with people across various walks of life, using technologies as archaic as pulse dialing to Facebook interactions, epitomizing the "six degrees of separation", by proving time and again that the world was indeed small. He loved spending time with children, friends, and families.
Innaiah is survived by his wife, Lakshmi and his son, Vinny; his brother and wife, Ananda Raja and Rani Pothacamury; his sister-in-law, Leela Pothacamury; nieces and nephews, Ramya, Shanthi and Karun; and grandchildren, Ava, Elle, Zaden and Rohit. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rani and his brother Francis Pothacamury.

I am sincerely sorry about the passing of Inniah, a long-time geologist colleague. He was a very carrying and dedicated person and professional. It was nice to see talk with his wife Rani and son Vinny even under these sad circumstances.

I got to know uncle in 1998 by an email. My dad's name and uncle's name are same. I opened a email account on my dad's name and uncle sent an email to this account and wanted to know more about person with same name. I responded to uncle and later he invited me to his house and we became good friends. Uncle and Aunty became my extended family. I am so tankful for reaching out to me and providing your support, wonderful memories, and your friendship. May you Rest In Peace

I got to know Innaiah when my wife and I were living in the Lansing area while I attended Michigan State University. We were treated to some lovely homemade meals by his wife and Innaiah. I will always remember him as a top rate geologist and colleague. We moved from the Lansing area in the mid 1980s and had lost contact until recently. My wife's and my memories of Innaiah are very fond ones. He WILL be mourned by all who knew his and felt his spirit. Our profound and sincere condolences to his family.
