IOLA O. RODGERS, 89 of Lakeland, Florida formerly of the Zif area passed away 1:14AM Thursday, January 03, 2013 at Grace Manor Assisted Living in Lakeland, FL.
Iola was born July 17, 1923 in Wayne County to Maurice and Gertrude (Behymer) Brissenden. She married Pete Hendler in 1949 and he preceded her in death. In 1977 Iola married Hubert Rodgers who preceded her in death on May 12, 2009.
Iola worked for 45 years at Marshall Fields & Company in Chicago. She also enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. where she was President of her local post.
Iola is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Hendler of Lakeland, FL.
Preceding her in death were one daughter, Carol Lynn Hendler, two brothers, Donald and Andrew, one sister, Lyndall Dennison, her husband, Hubert, and her parents.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zif Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Everyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
The family encourages that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
