Irene Myers, 83, of Penngrove, California, formerly of Novato, California, died on May 29, 2014, at Alta Bates Hospital in Oakland. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose Simas, sisters Mary Amaral and Natalie Perry, and brother Joseph Simas.
Irene was born on June 18, 1931 in Hayward, California. She went to high school at San Rafael High School and graduated in 1949. She married Raymond Myers in 1952. She retired from the Novato Disposal Company after working there for more than 40 years. She played semi-professional softball in her early twenties. She was artistic and used that ability for making wedding cakes and decorations. She was an avid sports fan (especially when her children or grandchildren were competing), and loved more than anything to spend time laughing with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, and best friend Raymond Myers (Dutch), her two sons, Walter (Dutch) (Tona) Myers and Michael (Diana) Myers; her sisters, Rose Mary Simas and Shirley (Jack) Hill; her eight grandchildren, Michele, Brittany, Michael, Taylor, and Jared Myers; and Robert, Thomas, and Joseph Clemmer.

So sorry to hear about your loss. When I told my daughter she reminded me of the times at the Novato company picnics when Irene would take all the kids to the snack bar and treat them to an ice cream. She's 34 and still remembers it. Not to mention the great card games. Our thoughts and prayers, go out to the family. Love The Tournahu Family.
