PALANGO, Irene – On Friday April 11, 2014 Irene Sylvia Palango (nee Duda), passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She joins her husband of 54 years, David. She will be forever missed by her children, Gloria, Ron, Julie (Mike) and Teresa (Jack) Silvestro. She was the loving Babcia to Melanie and David Silvestro. Irene was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Jean, brother Walter and sister Freda Shandala. She is survived by her in laws, Arnold and Lea, Ernie, Josie, Laura and George Duffy and Jean and Vince as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. She will be greatly missed by dear friends Elena Silvestro and Linda and Bob Grills. Irene will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her cooking, love of crafts and gardening.
The family will receive friends at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main St. East (east of Sanford), on Monday, April 14, from 2-4 and 5-8 pm. A celebration of Irene's life will be held in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, SPCA, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Your mom was a beautiful person who I had the honor to call Aunt. Always a smile, so full of creativity from her gorgeous wedding cakes to paper tole.
She will be sadly missed.
