Ms. Iris Juanelle (Lee) McNutt, age75, passed away February 18, 2014 at Oak Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Talco, Texas to parents Luke Lee and Pauline on June 17, 1938.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Curtis Lee.

She is survived by her son, Scott McNutt and wife Teresa; daughters, Kim Moreland and husband David, Gay McNutt; grandchildren, Sara McNutt, Shae McNutt, Brooke Moreland and husband Damion, Nathan Moreland, Kristen Garcia and husband Eddie, Shelby Moreland and special friend, Reynaldo Montenaro, Whitney Crider and husband James; eight great grandchildren; brother, George Lee and wife Molene; two nephews and one niece.

Iris graduated from New London High School in 1956, then attended Howard Payne University. She completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Houston in 1972. Iris found her delight in teaching young children, especially third graders in Alvin, TX at Alvin Primary. As her family grew, she had room to add her teaching experience to guide her own grandchildren. They loved her dearly. In 1999, Iris had to take an early retirement from teaching at Challenger Elementary in Pearland, TX when she was diagnosed with Pick's Disease (a progressive form of dementia). She moved to Natchitoches, LA to be near her daughter, Gay. A few weeks later they moved to Hattiesburg, Ms. for 7 years. Iris enjoyed going to games and mentoring. She rarely missed a game! When the opportunity became available she and her daughter moved to Nacogdoches. Iris loved long afternoon rides in the car to special places. She enjoyed the outdoors and parks and trees and she loved sports. She always supported her kids in their sports, she was a delightful person to be around and enjoyed many artistic qualities of life including singing, piano playing, painting and always found a way to incorporate her teaching touch in everything she did. She will be so missed by those who loved her most. Special friends of Iris during her time in Nacogdoches include Shawna Braselton, Taylor Braselton, Ashlyn Braselton, Donna Olson and Sarah Goins. Iris's family would also like thank Oak Manor Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice.
