Irma Brackman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2016.

Irma Yolanda Garcia Brackman, returned to her heavenly home on October 10, 2016 after a valiant battle with three different glioblastomas (brain tumors) over the past two years. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Irma was born to the late Clemente Garcia, Sr. and Tomasita Flores Garcia, in San Antonio, TX on February 25, 1947. A retired educator and a homemaker respectively, she dedicated her entire life to serving others especially her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful servant of the Lord who was a loving part of the St. Helena Catholic Church ACTS community, and a recent member of the St. Helena Altar Society. She graduated from Texas State University in 1985 with a degree in art education and worked in the North East Independent School District as a middle school art teacher.
Irma Yolanda married the love of her life, Harry James Brackman, on March 29, 1969 in San Antonio, TX and soon after had two children. Her husband, a San Antonio Police Officer, was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to an officer needs assistance call. As a single mother of a four and three year old, she raised them with unconditional love, patience, discipline and humility. She taught them the importance of a good education and respect for others through her own example. An intelligent and beautiful widow never to remarry confidently told others, "I can always find someone to love me, but I will probably never find someone who will love my children the way they deserve to be loved." This profound statement is a true testament to the love that she had for her children. Irma had an amazing faith that carried her through the trials she experienced her entire life. She often meditated by praying the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, focusing her prayers on her family, young children with cancer, unborn babies, peace on Earth, guidance, health, and healing.
Irma is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Brackman-Paniagua and her husband Juan, son Harry James Brackman II and his wife Misty, her grandchildren Ariana, Izabella, Emma, Gus, and Haley; her brothers Clemente Garcia and Gerardo Garcia, her sister Nelda Allen, and numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Salazar, George Garcia, and Roger Garcia; her parents Clemente Garcia Sr. and Tomasita Flores Garcia; and her grandson, John Raphael Paniagua.
Irma Yolanda Garcia Brackman's services are Visitation and funeral rosary on Thursday, October 13 5:00-9:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home 625 Kitty Hawk Rd. Universal City, TX 78148; Friday, October 14 12:00 PM Funeral Mass at St. Helena Catholic Church 14714 Edgemont St. San Antonio, TX 78247 Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery 17501 Nacogdoches Rd San Antonio, TX. Yolie, We shared so much at our ACTS Table @ our January 2016 Retreat. Our table was named the "Team Jesus Table" You would sign your messages & texts to me as Team Jesus Member and you showed me the Team Jesus Poster on your wall at home. We never had our cup of coffee that we talked about. One of these days we will, when we meet again my friend. You always had great things to say about your beautiful daughter Elizabeth, Juan, the best son-in law anybody could ever have and you really appreciated your handsome son Harry & Beautiful wife taking you to some of your dr. appointments. When talking about your Amazing Grandkids, your face would light up! I know you are watching from above. Just letting you know you are so dearly missed. Until we meet again. Love you Girl! :)

My Dearest Yole, it's still so surreal you are gone. We've come a long way, from our dads working at Longhorn Cement Company n growing up at Longhorn, where kids could be kids n everyone knowing each other. Years past and we became more than friends, we became BlueSisters. I will miss our talks, remembering our husbands n how much we would do for n give up for our children, wishing their dads were with us to watch them grow into wonderful adults n having their own families. You are a big inspiration, I say are because you continue to be n always will, you taught me so much with your faith n love for God. Now you are reunited with your love Harry n your children have both their parents together watching over them. What brings me comfort is knowing you are no longer in pain n are in the arms of our Heavenly Father n your husband. My prayers will always be with Elizabeth n Juan, Harry n Misty and your beautiful grandchildren and your brothers Clem n Gerry n sister Nelda. Love you my friend, Janie

We lost an earth angel. The Brackman's were neighbors when I was a little girl and I remember her being such a sweet and loving lady. In fact, on the night my eldest brother got married, she babysat me during the reception as I was all of 3 or 4 years old. In the last few years we kept in touch via Facebook a few times and I remember thinking what an inspiration and gracious woman of Christ she was. You'll be profoundly missed by your loved ones Mrs Brackman, but I'm sure comforted that you're no longer in pain and watching over them for eternity. I know I am. Rest In Peace.

You came to me in my dreams this morning, and I know you are dancing in heaven. Forever in my heart! ❤

Ms. Yolanda Brackman! That one day a couple of weeks ago after the 12 noon Mass, I saw you and gave you a hug and kiss, I felt an inspiration of an Angel! Tears came to me, but not tears of sadness; they were tears of the Spirit! I knew then, as I know now, that God was with you and that you were very special. I will pray for your family because they will need our love and support. You, our Angel, Pray for us all and, especially, your special loved ones. Rest in Peace and may the Angels and Saints in Heaven rejoice with you in the Heavenly Banquet! Blessings!

Yolie was such a beautiful person, inside & out! We met when our children were in grade school. My son, Scott, Elizabeth, & Harry were such good friends. Yolie would take them to eat pizza, go to concerts, and so many other memorable things. My late husband, John, coached Harry along with Scott in Little League. He gave him the nickname, Handsome Harry & Yolie loved it! There was a very special bond between our families. I will miss her smile, laugh, and wonderful friendship! But, we know she's with the Lord now and so happy and not in pain anymore! Also, with her husband, Harry, & other loved ones who have gone before her. My thoughts & prayers go out to Elizabeth & Harry and all the family at this sad time. She will never be forgotten & will live in our hearts forever! God bless all of you! Love, Annell & Family

Although I knew her for such a short time, it was evident how remarkable she truly was. The quiet strength she exhibited throughout her daily battle was the witness of her faith. I feel sure that Christ welcomed her with open arms and I know that I am a better person for having met her.

I met irma years ago, i also was blessed by her presence at an ACTS retreat and I was on team. Irma is truly a woman of God, and an angel in disguise. Her devotion, faith and hope carried her through her battle. She used to always say she had Hope. My thoughts and prayers are with the Brackman, Paniagua families. Yes, God has certainly welcomed an angel into his kingdom. Now you can dance with the love of your life Irma. You will be greatly missed. I love you irma. I'm happy to know you are finally at peace, pain free and resting. Rest In Peace my sister. Love you.

I met Yolanda back in the 1970's when I was a child. I remember thinking she was truly an angel and how lucky Elizabeth and Harry were to have her as a mom. My dad (her cousin, George) and I are blessed and grateful for the time we had with her.

The love you gave your family and friends was enough to last a lifetime. A beautiful soul on earth and certainly an angel with many crowns in Heaven. Your beautiful spirit will continue to live on through all those you loved and whom had the privilege of knowing you. Sing with the Angels precious Yoli.

I first met Yoli when she and Harry were dating and he was still in the Army. A beautiful girl and a beautiful woman who raised their children faithfully. I am sadden by her death and my condolences to her children. I have met her son Harry but not her daughter. She did a great job raising then and devoting her services to our Lord and Savior. The world has lost a wonderful person but God has gained another Saint. Also my condolences to her Grandchildren.

October 11, 2016

With much sadness and love for my sister YOLI, I will miss you greatly, " MAY GOD KEEP YOU IN HIS CARE " WITH LOVE CLEM & JULIA
