CSM Irvin Jordan, Jr., U. S. Army (Retired) - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence. He was a graduate of Murphy High School and retired from the U. S. Army in 1986 after 40 years of service. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, the Korean War, and the Arden Forest in Germany. He was a graduate of Murphy High School and retired from the U. S. Army in 1986 after 40 years of service. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, the Korean War, and the Arden Forest in Germany. During his military career, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He also retired as a W-12 Inspector at Eglin Air Force Base.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances P. Jordan. Survivors include his wife, Mildred D. Jordan; his children, George Irvin (Earline) Jordan, Kenneth M. Jordan, and Dianna (Earl) Freeman; seven grandchildren, George Irvin (Rochelle) Jordan, Jr., Michael Earl Jordan, Wendy Enfinger, Lindsay Floyd, Leslie H. Washington, Brandi (Donovan) Holifield, and Matthew Freeman; sixteen great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or your favorite charity.
