I just found this website after the Hanukkah Card that we sent to Irv was returned to us. I grew up as a member of Temple Judea and later had the good fortune to run into Irv again when my family was part of another congregation that he also was part of. I will never forget him saying something to the effect that as long as we at least pass down the shema to our children, the future generations will be in good hands. Every night we say the Shema with our son before he goes to sleep and I often think of Irv when I hear it. May be rest in peace. He will be remembered fondly and I will miss the notes he would send us each year after receiving our Hanukkah cards. Our deepest condolences to his family.

I just found out that Irv passed away. No one worked harder than Irv Weiss for his Temple Judea. He was a mentor to me and a great friend and teacher to my children many years ago. I am sorry I did not know of his passing to participate. I don't believe I will experience any other time in my life, the golden years of Temple Judea under Irv's leadership.

Bill & Sandy Weiss
To the dearest father, grandfather and father-in-law who loved his children endlessly. Irving Weiss, a devoted husband and father, dedicated his life to his family and his community. He came to Fort Myers and built the first highly successful and most prestigious synagogue in Southwest Florida. He hired the first woman Rabbi in Florida. And so many children knew him as their Hebrew teacher on their way to their Bar or Bas Mitzvah. Thank you for your leadership. We love you Grandpa, from Billy, Sarah and Sandy Weiss
