Isabel B. Garcia, also known as Isabel G. Martinez, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at home with her family by her side. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, Encarnacion "Chon" and Trinidad "Trini" Garcia; as well as her brother, Ernesto Garcia. Isabel is survived by her daughters, Monique (Tito) Bonfiglio and Monika Padia; her grandsons, Rey Martinez, Adrian Bonfiglio, and Keaton Thedford; her siblings, Gloria Rivas, Sylvia Martinez and Joe Garcia; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly. Isabel continued her education at Arizona State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in education and then a master's degree in education as well. Isabel taught in the Philippines for a short period of time but for the majority of her career she taught at Phoenix Elementary School District #1 where she retired in 1999. Isabel was a very active woman. Isabel enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite trips were trips to Europe and Hawaii. Isabel played softball as a young girl. She continued to play until her health made it physically impossible for her. Isabel also coached softball. She even had her own softball team (Bill's Market). Isabel also supported her daughters in their education and extracurricular activities. Isabel was their number one fan! Memories of her caring and loving spirit will live on forever in our hearts!

I can`t begin to say what kind of inspiration this woman was to me. She was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher. The first teacher that inspired me to strive towards excellence. I have thought of her often the last 40+ years and now she is forever in my prayers. My sincerest sympathies.

My deepest condolences Monique & Monika to you and your family. Isabel was such an amazingly strong, caring, loving woman. I have such fond memories of trips with you guys, from Disneyland to going up north. I remember when we went to Payson, she was driving through the mountains and she would shift a little late... you'd tell her you got to shift sooner Ma and she just kept on. Or remember when she said we could ride our bikes to school, that we might lose some weight if we did. :) I still recall her infectious laugh at softball practice. She'd get on us too, she always believed in us...win or lose it was always Pizza Mart. She was so involved with you girls, it was beautiful to see her love she had for you both. I am so blessed and thankful to have known your mother and share wonderful memories of us. Her spirit lives on. My thoughts and prayers are with you and may the Lord's peace and comfort be with you. All My Love

Izzy...I will miss you...I will never forget our trips to softball tournaments traveling with you and your family. We had some great laughs with Mo, Darcy, Bridget, Boy, and I. I am smiling now thinking about them! You were a joy to be around and you raised to beautiful daughters that turned into beautiful women.
