Ivo Daniel Junek, of Katy, Texas, went to be with his Lord on February 19, 2013, at the age of 65. Dan was born July 20, 1947 in Bryan, Texas to Julius L. and Judith R. Junek. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1966. Following high school he served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his service he attended Texas A&M University. He worked for CGG Veritas, where he retired after over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Judith Junek, Emilie Glass and Sharon Campbell.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lydia Arlene Junek; his daughter, Suzanne Crawford and her husband Jared; one grandson Matthew; three sisters, Barbara Randle, Jeanette Bomnskie and her husband Joe Bill, Juliette "Tootsie" Raabe and her husband Mike; 3 brothers, James Junek and his wife Patricia, Julius "Junior" Junek and his wife Shirley, Michael Junek and his wife Terry; and numerous other loving family members.
He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of various groups in the Katy area.
Dan was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He thoroughly enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
A visitation with the family will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, in Houston.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 10:0 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston.
