Ivy Ann Bauer was born on October 22, 1948 to Dorothy V. McCabe (nee Smith) and Matthew M. McCabe in Washington D.C. She was raised in Arlington County, where she lived with her parents and her siblings Sandy, Skip, Patsy, Shawn and Dawn. Ann graduated high school from Washington-Lee in Arlington in 1966. She met Theodore S. Bauer (Ted) through her brother, Skip, and they dated until they were married on April 29, 1972.
Lifelong Virginia residents, Ann and Ted had a son, Patrick, on February 19, 1973, and then a daughter, Angela, on March 9, 1976. The family moved into their Vienna, Virginia home in 1976. Ann was a fantastic domestic engineer, who assisted Ted in raising their children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, planting flowers and attending to gardening, and for a brief while she participated in a bowling league as a member of the "Alley Cats." Later in life, Ann was blessed with her grandchildren through Patrick: Trinity, Keithan and Sierra. Ann was an amazing survivor of breast cancer, and she participated in both support groups and fund raising events for cancer awareness along with her sister, Sandy. Even after being diagnosed with ovarian and stomach cancer, Ann continued her courageous battle.
Ted and Ann resided in their Vienna, Virginia home until her death on May 11, 2017. Ann is survived by her husband, son, daughter, three grandchildren, brother Shawn, and sisters Sandy and Dawn.

Ivy Ann was my friend Sandy's younger sister. I first met Ivy Ann when Sandy and I were in high school. I have not seen Ann in years but I always remember how sweet she was and that she always had a ready smile. I'm sorry you suffered so long, but now, in paradise, there will be no more tears and no more pain. All God's blessings on your family. You will all be in my prayers. Mary Smith
