I had met Mr. Monroe a handful of times in my life through my best friend and his son, Barry Monroe. He seemed to have carried his military discipline with him throughout. He certainly imparted his love of the outdoors and hunting to his son. I wish them all well.

Rip Monroe was a great friend of the Whitlock Family. Our friendship goes back many years when he, his mother, Suzie and father, Troy lived just a couple of houses down from the Whitlocks. We have treasured memories of those days. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Family.

We are going to miss our daily visits from Mr.Troy & Flash. Even though they came by to visit all four of our "puppies", we knew that our little Sheltie, Darby, was the real reason for their visit! Mr Troy will be missed.

Rip and I taught at Arkansas High together in the 70's. I will never forget his sense of humor and the great fishing and squirrel hunting we did together.
My condolences to his family and close friends.

Although I knew him as Rip from his friendship with my brother Jim (hunting, fishing, etc.), I had to be careful to call him Mr. Monroe at AHS circa 1963-66; especially when in Driver's Ed (Trying to get an auto insurance discount). I'm not sure if there's hunting seasons in heaven, but I can imagine that he and Jim have reconnected by now anyway.

Good memories of Rip go back through the years. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in their memories and in their faith.

This is not what I wanted to see when I read the paper this morning. My heart is sad to read about Mr. Monroe. Even though 43 years have passed he still holds a special place in my book of my most treasured memories. He was the kind of teacher this world needs more of and going to his class was something I always looked forward to. I would randomly call and check and him and Betty and the last time I talked to him we were suppose to have gotten a few of the old classmates together and have a glass of tea with him. I'm just sorry we never made that happen. He was a good man and never failed to make you laugh and he is someone I will treasure always. I am so sorry for your loss and please know you're in my thoughts and prayers.
