Jeannette Rakestraw Alexander, 89, wife of Walter Haywood "Red" Alexander, of 978 Priddy Road, LaGrange, died September 9, 2011, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Troup County, GA, daughter of the late James Samuel and Jewell Estelle Harris Rakestraw. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Harris County. She was employed by International Playtex in LaGrange for a number of years.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Alexander is survived by a son, Walter L. Alexander of LaGrange; a daughter, Brenda Alexander Paschal (Herb) of Pickens, SC; two grandsons, Raymond Alexander (Shannon) of LaGrange, and Brian Paschal (Stephanie) of Pickens, SC; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by a sister, Frances Rakestraw Hunt, and a brother, James Samuel Rakestraw Jr.
Graveside services will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 12 with Pastor Ben Bennett of Midway Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 2495 Hopewell Church Road, Pine Mountain, GA 31822.
The family is at the home, 978 Priddy Road, LaGrange.

Our prayers are with you at this time. Aunt Jeannette was a blessing to know and love. She will be missed by all of the Champion family. She has always had and will always have a special place in my heart. I will be praying for Uncle Red during this difficult time. We love you all
