Jack Warren Byrd, 82, of Smithton, Illinois, born November 24, 1934 in Centerville, Illinois, passed away on August 4, 2017 at his residence.
Jack was an avid fisherman and was happiest spending time with his wife at his property on Bull Shoals Lake. He served as a mining subsidence expert to Peabody Coal and the Illinois Mine Subsidence fund.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Ella jean Byrd, nee McNatt; his parents, Warren "Doc" and Mildred Byrd; and his brother, Gerald Byrd.
Surviving are two sons, Lynn Byrd of St. Louis, Missouri and Larry (Elaine) Byrd of Freeburg, Illinois; a daughter, Paula (Ray) Branz of Breese, Illinois; six grandchildren, Lennon Marie Byrd of St. Louis, Missouri, Ashley (Matt) Reeder of Belleville, Illinois, Alaina (James) Legg of Freeburg, Illinois, Andy (Erica) Branz of Breese, Illinois, Adam (Lauren) Branz of Denver, Colorado, and Alec (Angela) Branz of Breese, Illinois; four great grandchildren Maria and Juliette Branz, Belle Branz, Jedidiah Reeder; and two sisters, Gail (Tom) McCain of Hubbard, Oregon and Carole Byrd-Wolz of Missouri.

Visitation: Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral: Services to celebrate the lives of Jack and Jean will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Per his wishes cremation was to be held.
