Biography

Jack E. Allen, Sr., 80, passed away on July 10, 2011. Born in Tallahassee, FL to Wesley and Alice Allen, he is a Florida Pioneer descendant of Council B. Allen from Leon County, FL. Jack retired from the FL Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. He then worked for 5 years with Pan American Consulting Engineers before becoming Vice President of a family owned business, AWA Contracting Company, Inc. He was a member of Switzerland Community Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles K. Allen and Nealy H. White; and sister, Zelma G. Schaffer, he is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Roselle G. Allen; sons, Jack E. Allen, Jr., Bennie J. Allen (Amy), Arthur W. Allen (Kay) and Charles K. Allen (Porcher); sisters, Ada L. Poole, Sarah Jean Cranwill and Geneva G. White; grandchildren, Wesley James Allen (Christina), Jacob Kendrick Allen, Dalton James Allen, Colton Arthur Allen, Shannon Renee Allen, Chelsea LeeAnn Allen, Elizabeth Roselle Allen and Sarah Jane Allen; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (today), July 12, 2011 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Switzerland Community Church, 2179 State Road 13 Switzerland, FL 32259 with Rev. Wesley Slough as Officiant, followed by interment in Mandarin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nealy White, Brad...
