Obituary

Jack was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on October 16, 1998 and moved to Pine, Colorado in 2004 at the age of 5. Jack is best remembered as a kind and caring young man who always wanted to help others and share a laugh. He was a curious soul who would pour his heart into learning anything that interested him. He loved books and his favorite thing was his Nook because the library and the book store were in his hands. His second favorite was his Xbox. He loved sports and was a walking encyclopedia of football and lacrosse statistics. Through the years, Jack played on many teams and was always after his parents to get him to practice...
Through the years, Jack played on many teams and was always after his parents to get him to practice early. His view was that practices were not only for working on his sports skills, but for catching up with his friends, earning him the nickname "Chatty Jack". After the spring season with his Denver Lacrosse Club team, he was looking forward to summer with Denver Elite lacrosse. He loved playing with old friends and making some new ones. After lacrosse, he wanted to finish his summer at football camp to be a better quarterback for his Mountain Predator team. Jack did not like to hold still for very long. He practiced constantly, striving to be better at whichever sport was in season. He would coerce his father or sisters to come out and play with him. When they weren't available, he would talk his mom into joining him and then laugh hysterically at her lack of skills. Whether clowning at school or mercilessly teasing his older sisters, he made people laugh. Jack will also be remembered for his kindness. He did not like to see people alone and would try to make everyone feel like they belonged. His circle of friends was huge. In addition to classmates and team mates, he had no trouble flirting with his friends' older sister, chatting up the 90 year old neighbor or having the persistent toddler cousin wrapped around his leg. He loved them all. Jack shared whatever he had with his friends and family; cookies, candy, laughs, hugs and smiles. His last act of sharing was his greatest, giving the chance of a healthier life to others through organ donation. He will be greatly missed.

Jack passed away on April 11, 2012, he is survived by his loving family; parents, John & Sandy Berg, sisters Adalise and Callie Berg, grandmothers Louise O. Berg, and Susan Hayward, aunts Connie Richardson, Joan Csekey, and Cathy Hayward, uncle Lud Csekey, uncle & aunt Scott & Tara Hayward, and Jim & Janene Hayward, also numerous cousins.
