OBITUARY OF Jack Bonar, KDBC-TV and KTSM-TV El Paso Television has lost one of its pioneer broadcasters and most beloved members. Jack Bonar passed away Sunday night in El Paso. Jack has been with KDBC-TV and KTSM-TV for almost 50 years. Nobody in the local television industry has served the local media longer or has made more friends, than Jack Bonar, he was the longest tenured television executive ever. The stations went through numerous Ownership changes, Stock Holders, General Managers and General Sales Managers, but in spite of it all Jack Bonar was still there. El Paso Television has lost one of its pioneer broadcasters and most beloved members. Jack Bonar passed away Sunday night in El Paso. Jack has been with KDBC-TV and KTSM-TV for almost 50 years. Nobody in the local television industry has served the local media longer or has made more friends, than Jack Bonar, he was the longest tenured television executive ever. The stations went through numerous Ownership changes, Stock Holders, General Managers and General Sales Managers, but in spite of it all Jack Bonar was still there. Jack graduated from Ysleta High School in 1952. And on August 8th 1953, he eloped to Juarez, Mexico and married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Royal. Jack and Margaret had four children Cindy, Jack, Craig and Jill. Margaret passed away in May of 1997. Jack started his sales career working for Kraft Foods and got into television a few years later. Jack went to work for KDBC-TV and when the two stations, KDBC-TV and KTSM-TV joined together, Jack Bonar represented both, selling El Paso, Las Cruces and Juarez The Olympic Games, The Globetrotters, Ray Micken's Golf Classic, The El Paso Rodeo and more car dealerships than you can put in Detroit. Jack Bonar is survived by his four children and two sisters Mrs. Helen McDaniel of Pino Alto, CA and Mrs. Donna McCreary of Tomball, TX. The people at Channel's 4 & 9 will never forget their good friend and brother Jack Bonar. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana Ave. with funeral services on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley.
