Our Dad, Jack Fun Chew, born in Oakland, CA, August 10, 1915, passed away August 4, 2014. Jack Chew attended Burleson Elementary and El Paso High School. After graduating from UT-Austin with a degree in chemical engineering, he worked in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. during WWII. In 1943, he returned to El Paso to assist with the family farm, and he worked as a chemical engineer at ASARCO. He retired from ASARCO as chief chemist in 1980. He owned and worked at Northeast Propane until he was 97. He was a good provider and loved by his family. His wife of 53 years, Francesca Garcia Chew, preceded him in death. He is survived by Margaret King (sister, age 102 of New York, NY); Cynthia Chew Nations and Susan Chew Murphy (daughters), Jack H. Chew (son), and Olga Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, and Lourdes Garcia. Grandchildren are Kim Nations Palmer, Kris Nations Branham, Doise Chew Meirs, Charlotte Chew, Karen Murphy, and Jennifer Murphy. We will all miss our Dad! Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Avenue. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
