To Renee and her lovely mother I send sincere condolences. It sounds as if Mr. Hatten lived a full and very productive life and was obviously a true member of "the greatest generation." We look forward to Mrs. Hatten's move to the upstate of SC, should that remain in your plans. In the meantime, know that I am thinking of you both, and I hope that the dignity and beauty of a military service brought some comfort. When my father received his service, I found some brief solace in the knowledge that we knew it was what he wanted and that it was lovely, appropriate, and well deserved, as I know Mr. Hatten's was. My thoughts are with you both as you face a very different world.
