Jack Osburne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 27, 2014.

.Jack M. Osburne, age 82, long-time resident of Colorado Springs and Pueblo, passed away on February 12, 2014 at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Myrtle Osburne, and brothers Earle and Donald.

Jack was born on March 25, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force, stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, where he met and married Helen Hoagland on June 28, 1954. After leaving the military, he entered the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, graduating in 1960 and moved his now growing family to Pueblo, Colorado to begin his long career of private practice dentistry. While in Pueblo, he served as a member and President of City Council. Jack moved his dental practice to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1985. After retiring, he began his second career creating Health Management Systems, a dental insurance company, which later partnered with Anthem. Jack was very proud of his membership in Colorado Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Dental Group Practice, American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

The love of his career was second only to the love of his surviving wife, Helen, and his children, son Gregory, and daughter's Jacque (Bob) May, Cynthia (Dennis) Smith and Laurie (John) Twilbeck along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jack enjoyed the majestic mountains of Colorado and Utah, jeeping, ATV riding, camping and fishing. Jack was a friend and mentor to so many along his path through life. His presence and eternal optimism will be greatly missed.

A casual celebration of his life is scheduled at Woodmen Valley Stone Chapel on Tuesday, March 18th at 1:30 pm.

Helen,

I was shocked and saddened to read of Jack's death. I sent you a sympathy card to your Talleson Court address, but it was returned as "non-delieverable as addressed" and "unable to forward", and an address for you doesn't show up in the phone directory.

You've been in my thoughts, and I hope you are holding up well at this time of great loss.

Fondly,

Cathe Berg

Helen, Jack was a neat man. He and I formed a heartfelt relationship early on.
It was all about family. He listened to me when I spoke of the love I had for my dad who was dying. God love him.
