On March 14, 2015, Jacob Peter Fase, Jr. "Jack" passed away unexpectedly. Jack was born on April 4, 1940 in Grand Haven, Michigan. He was owner and president of Alno, Inc. He graduated from Michigan State in 1962. After college, Jack joined Corning Glass; and during his tenure with Corning, Carl Reinking, the father of his best friend, encouraged Jack to join Chautauque Hardware in Jamestown, NY. Over the years, Reinking became a surrogate father and mentor to Jack. After a year at Chautauqua and three years in Chicago, Jack returned to Grand Haven as a Midwest sales agent. In March 1970, Reinking took over Alno,Inc., which was the namesake of partners Allan F. Jones and Norm Odom. Reinking convinced Jones to dispatch young Jack Fase to California on a two-year contract to manage Alno. By the end of 1970, Jack and Reinking forged a new, long-term agreement that would secure the futures of both Alno and Jack, in which Reinking treated Jack as an equal partner. In early 1982, Reinking decided to retire; and happily sold his shares to Jack, who became president of Alno, Inc.
Jack was a leader in the decorative hardware industry; and in 2006, Jack was inducted into the Council of Fellows of the Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association in recognition of his career accomplishments.
Jack was also a director of Westlake Yacht Club, member of the Simi Valley Fliers, and member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Men's Club.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janice Fase, his sons, John Fase (Vicky); Trevor Fase (Tami); Cameron Fase (Ann-Marie); Brandon Fase, Michael Gageby, and his daughter Lisa Malcolm (Bill); Eight grandchildren, Will, Matthew, Amanda, Julia , Hannah, Christopher, Sierra, and August . Jack was predeceased by his parents, Bertha and Jacob Fase, his sister, Donna Burnside and his son Jacob Peter Fase, III.
A visitation (10am) and funeral mass (11am) to honor Jack's life will be held at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Westlake Village on Friday, March 20th, 2015. A reception will follow the service at the St. Maximillian Kolbe Hall. The burial service will be held on Saturday, March 21st , 2015 at 11am at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

I had the great pleasure of caring for Jack after his surgery. Though I only knew Jack for a very short time, he had a big impact on me. He was one of a kind. Gave great advice and always sincere. He is missed tremendously.

Dear Janice and family, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jack's death. I only met him the one time at the Beach Club but so enjoyed our lunch and visit. He had such a joyous smile and a great sense of humor. I am so sorry that our friendship was so short. I would have enjoyed knowing him for much longer!
My deepest sympathies to you and yours. May fond and special memories sooth your heart during this painful time. Fondly, Sally Maggio

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Jack, Bruce Cleveland and I were roommates at MSU for a couple of years, first in an upstairs rooming house and second in a regular apartment. We used to have fake fights in the upstairs rooming house and I can still see Jack going down two fights of stairs on his back in a cardboard closet. We had some great times together while on campus and I will always cherish those memories. We also used to get together when Jack came back to GH to see Donna, Dan and the kids. The last time I saw Jack was at Brian's passing where we had a chance to catch up. Jack was a great friend, roomie and just a good guy. He will be missed. Kurt .

Aunt Jan and all your family: My thoughts and prayers are with you, especially in these days and weeks to come. I know the heartache you must be feeling. One of my favorite memories is when Uncle Jack took over the helm for Dad on our way back from Mackinac one year! What a ride!! And Uncle Jack always had a smile and hug ready for us and all the kids. May God surround you with his loving arms and give you a sense of peace and comfort in these days. Hugs, Judy Burnside

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear that Jack had passed away. I first met Jack in the winter of 2004 when he set up a scholarship fund in memory of his mother Bertha Fase, with the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation in his hometown of Grand Haven, Michigan. Over the years we have had many wonderful conversations about life in Grand Haven, the importance of education, students, MSU and his passion: fishing. He was a generous, positive thinking, kind man, and I will miss him deeply.

Jan,
I am sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times. May the memories of Jack help you find peace. I can truly say that I lost a good friend that always made people feel better about themselves. He was an honest soul, with a true heart and I will always hold a special place in my heart for him. All of us here at the restaurant have our own special memories of Jack. We all have decided that we will refer to the table that Jack ate his last dinner here as, "Jack's Table". Just know that even though Jack has left this earth he also left all of us with a lot of great memories, and for that reason he will always be missed but never forgotten.

I recently met Jack and was helping him recover from his recent knee surgery. I was very surprised and saddened when I received word of his passing. I only knew him for 3 weeks and I really enjoyed our sessions together. I will miss him and his great personality deeply. Go Spartans!
