Jackie Castille, age 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 while surrounded by her family.
Jackie was born and raised in Westlake, LA, and lived her married life in Carlyss with her husband of 41 years, Willard Castille. Jackie was a woman of many talents and never met a stranger. She would open her heart and home to anyone and made everyone feel welcome no matter what was happening. Jackie loved to cook, watch movies, and travel with her large family. Jackie especially loved music and dancing, and looked for any reason or excuse to dance with her children. She lived for her children and grandchildren and always wanted all of the family to be together no matter what was going on. She was very rich in love and enjoyed giving to people. She was loved dearly by all who knew her and she will be missed.
Jackie had a large group of friends that extended beyond normal friendship. Her friends quickly became part of her family, so her family was constantly growing in numbers. She loved and cared for each one of these people in her family and that love has been reciprocated many times over during the last few months. Jackie touched so many lives and will never be forgotten by those who knew her.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Willard Castille; daughter, Stephanie Castille Gary and husband, Kenneth; son, James Castille and wife, Jessica; daughter, Elizabeth Castille Bergeron and husband, Jay; nine grandchildren; Kolby, Riley, Addison, Anna, Tanner, Clara, Evelynn, Caden, and Madelyn; mother Barbara Buller; her brother, Davis Joe Buller and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Buller.
A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, LA. Father Jeff Starkovich will officiate. Her burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery, also in Carlyss, LA. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Cursillo Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Hixson Funeral Home. Jackie's pall bearers will be Shannon Castille, Camus Castille, Russell Castille, Ty Castille, Eric Meaux, Jacob Whitfield, Sean Anger, and Joey Mathew. Honorary pall bearers will be all of her grandsons, Kolby Gary, Riley Gary, Tanner Castille, and Caden Bergeron.

James, Steph, Bette... I will always remember us growing up together so clearly--your momma (and you, Mr. Willard!) always opened the front door to us kiddos no matter how dirty our shoes were... Your family just embraced and befriended ours so absolutely and unconditionally. You invited us into your lives--thank you. Mrs. Jackie raised a fantastic family. NINE grand kids--What a legacy! Love you guys to pieces.

I first met Jackie when Stephanie was in the 6th grade. I was Student Council sponsor and Stephanie was a representative. By default, Jackie became a committed SC parent. She never denied any request. If something was important to her child, it was a priority to Jackie. I met James and Elizabeth long before they attended Lewis because Jackie was a firm believer in family involvement.
One of my favorite memories was when Jackie promised that she and Willard would help me and my husband build the facade of a house for Sadie Hawkins. The four of us worked diligently to complete the project. We were so proud of it. We fell over ourselves laughing when we realized we would have to dismantle the 8 foot structure to get it through the 6 foot door.
Willard, Stephanie, James, Bette, and families, Jackie will be missed. She loved with every fiber of her being. She laughed often and helped us to laugh. She lived for you. God was her strength and you are her legacy. Look around, read the comments, find strength in them as you celebrate her life.
My prayers are with you as you journey forward. This year will be a year of difficult firsts. I pray God's strength sustains you. May His peace fill you and bring you comfort. Love you all!
