Jacqueline Theresa (Richard) Bernier 88 of Swansea died on June 10, 2017 after a long illness in Kimwell Nursing Home, Fall River.
She was the wife of the late Leo Bernier. They were married in a double wedding ceremony on May 31, 1948.
Born July 18, 1928 in Fall River, MA she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ida (Poirier) Richard. She is also the mother of the late Richard Bernier and sister to the late Normand Richard.
She is survived by three daughters, Claudia Norman and husband Dana, Paula Comiskey, (husband) the late Jack Comiskey, all of Swansea, Anne-Marie Cardin, husband Michael of Manassas, VA. And five grandchildren, Lisa Norman Graham, and husband David, Steven Norman, Joann, Jody and Joseph Cestodio, and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four sisters, Rita Ouellette, Lucille Kirby, Pauline Boutin and Claudette Porter and many nieces and nephews.
During World War II Jackie worked at the Firestone plant in Fall River making gas masks for the American service members. Jackie started the St Anne's Parish Girl Scout Troop along with a few members. She spent 17 years as the Brownie troop leader and continued working volunteering her time to the organization. She was president of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Jackie enjoyed so many things but most of all years of cruising the world with her husband Leo.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA 02777. Visitation prior from 9:00 to 1:00PM. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to: Compassionate Care Hospice, 174 Dean Street Taunton MA 02780. Relatives and friends invited. I would always remember how proud Aunt Jackie was to make all the Christmas goodies for the kids in the Boston Hospital, how whenever I would make it to Swansea, she would look at me so lovingly, that she was truly glad to see me, and would then say "We have to have some individual clamboils!" I can't imagine her remaining here without Uncle Leo... Claudia, Paula, Anne-Marie, and all your extended families, I am truly sorry for your loss - as someone has already said, it is very hard to lose both of your parents at the same time, but find solace that, as they brought you through many stages of life, they are now paving the way for you all in the next stages... Peace, Love, and Prayers...

I am so sorry for your loss, it's hard enough to loss one parent but both at the same time is unimaginable.
