Jacquelyn Trevine Beard, 1926-2014, died after a long illness on April 6, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the daughter of Mary Margaret and Joseph Cantu Trevine. She was happily married to Hansford Duncan Beard for 62 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family cherished her great sense of humor and vivacious manner. Jackie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Florida State University where she was head majorette. She also attended the University of Georgia and was a lifelong Bulldog fan. Jacquelyn Trevine Beard, 1926-2014, died after a long illness on April 6, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the daughter of Mary Margaret and Joseph Cantu Trevine. She was happily married to Hansford Duncan Beard for 62 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family cherished her great sense of humor and vivacious manner. Jackie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Florida State University where she was head majorette. She also attended the University of Georgia and was a lifelong Bulldog fan. Jackie possessed a committed Christian faith and her church was always dear to her. She was President of the Women of the Church of the Good Shepherd, a member of the altar guild and an active Cursillista. She served as president of the Ginger Garden Circle. She led her daughters Girl Scout Troops and was active in the local schools. She enjoyed reading stories on the radio with the Association of American University Women. Together with her husband they traveled widely, but most of all enjoyed spending time at their beach home in Fernandina Beach. She was a former member of the Seminole Club and Florida Yacht Club. She is survived by her son H. Duncan Beard (Alyce) and daughters, Jeanine Sasser and Rosanne Ennis (Duncan); five grandchildren, Duncan Ennis Jr., Scott Ennis (Lasa), Katherine Ennis Wooden (Justin), Lee Sasser (Tiffany) and Hansford Sasser. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 Edgewood Ave South. Jax. FL 32205. A graveside funeral service will be Thursday April 10, 2014, 11 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main St, (enter thru Gate 5) Jacksonville, FL 32206, Rev. Sam Pascoe officiating.
