James "Jim" B. Arendell, 42 of Freeburg, Ill., born June 8, 1968 in Elk Grove Village, Ill., passed away August 20, 2010 at his residence in Freeburg. Mr. Arendell started his police career in Smithton, Ill., then Freeburg, Ill., and was currently a police officer for the Fairview Heights Police Department serving since 1999. He was a Patrolman and Detective, and also served on the Major Case Squad and Honor Guard. He had a passion for helping and serving others. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Son and will be dearly missed by his family. He enjoyed spending time golfing, being with family and friends, hunting, and...
James "Jim" B. Arendell, 42 of Freeburg, Ill., born June 8, 1968 in Elk Grove Village, Ill., passed away August 20, 2010 at his residence in Freeburg.
Mr. Arendell started his police career in Smithton, Ill., then Freeburg, Ill., and was currently a police officer for the Fairview Heights Police Department serving since 1999. He was a Patrolman and Detective, and also served on the Major Case Squad and Honor Guard. He had a passion for helping and serving others. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Son and will be dearly missed by his family. He enjoyed spending time golfing, being with family and friends, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.
Surviving are his wife, Stephanie R. Arendell, nee Reichert; children, Brian and Brooke Arendell; parents, Dan and Betty Arendell, nee Northcutt; brothers, Jeff (Brandy) Arendell, twin brother John (Denise) Arendell; father and mother in law, Jim and Connie Reichert; brother in law, Andrew Reichert; nieces and nephews, Justin, Joe, Tanner, Jason, Malone, Corbin and Avery; special family friend, Angie Stamper; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Family would like to express their appreciation for the extensive support they have received from their family, friends, Fairview Heights Police Department and Passages Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may call Monday, August 23, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, Ill. 62223.
Funeral Service: The Funeral Procession will leave Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 passing the Fairview Heights Police Department in honor of Officer Arendell and arrive at Grace Church, 5151 North Illinois, Fairview Heights, Ill. 62208 for the funeral service. At his request, cremation will follow with inurnment at Valhalla Gardens of Memory at a later date.
