James "Jim/Jimmy" Dale Spears. Jim, 78, passed away on January 7, 2013. He was born in Ranger, Texas, January 2, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Euletha. Jim is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters, Carla, Amanda (Mandy), Erinn and her husband Harvey Hetzel, Jr.; and son, James Devin; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and siblings, Norman and Billy and their wives LaNell and Veta.
Jim graduated from the University of Texas (1958) with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Business. Jim worked for several companies including Southern Union Gas, Bowen Industries, Inc., and retired from Way Engineering in December 2006, after 22 years of service.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Jim loved fishing; watching birds and squirrels in his backyard. He will be remembered for his smile and great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
His final days were made comfortable by his amazing caregivers, Siu and Stephanie, with Houston Hospice at Grace Care Center.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Houston SPCA on Portway Drive.
