James Edgar "Jimmy" Giles, 82, of El Dorado died Monday, August 26, 2013, at his home.
He was born June 21, 1931 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Edgar William and Mattie Faye Giles.

He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War while proudly serving the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Silver Star, 2 Purple Hearts, the Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

He was married to Doris Marie Clift in 1955 and they had three daughters.

After returning from military service, he worked as a welder, a mechanic, greens keeper for the El Dorado Country Club, and finally concentrated on his passion when he owned and operated a locksmith and gunsmith shop. Jimmy had a brilliant mind and could fix just about anything.

Jimmy was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attended the First Church of God, was a volunteer fireman and worked with local law enforcement agencies on multiple occasions.

Jimmy is survived by Marie Giles, of the home, and three daughters, Cathy Giles Wilson of Maumelle, AR, Karla Giles McCaustland of Ardmore, OK, and Kelly Giles of Benton, AR. He was also survived by his brother, Jesse Neal Reeves, of Norphlet, AR. Jimmy was extremely proud of his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 29 at the First Church of God in El Dorado.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher Wilson and Tait Risor, as well as Kenneth Murphy, Robert Murphy, Jeremy Dean, and Gary Swilley. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Reeves, Bill Beene, Charles Blaylock and Jimmy's grandchildren, who will all be wearing a shirt from their papaw's 'signature' western collection.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, from 6-8 pm at Young's Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Jimmy will be buried with full military honors at Arlington Memorial Park following the memorial service under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Church of God, 918 Mosby, El Dorado, AR 71730.

An online guest registry will be available at www.youngsfuneralhome.com.
