James Curtis Mills, 93, was welcomed by his Sweet wife Margaret (Peggy) as he entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Jim was born in Woodlake, CA. on March 2, 1924 to Adrian & Lucile Mills where he attended Woodlake High & competed in both Football & Baseball, later playing 1 year of Football at C.O.S. before injuring his knee. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving in World War II on board the U.S.S. Wyman destroyer escort. On July 1st, 1949 he married the beautiful Margaret May Howison and lived in Lemoncove, CA for 61 of their 64 years marriage. He raised & farmed oranges in Lemoncove for over 60 years. During that time he served as President & active member of the Lemoncove ditch company & he was also a member of the Lemoncove Memorial District Board. Serving the Lord was an important part of his life. He was an active member of the Woodlake Presbyterian Church, Kaweah Community Church & Lemoncove Presbyterian Church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Lucile Mills; his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Mills; brother, Robert & Sister Margaret. He is survived by his 3 sons, Charles (Judy), David (Nanci), and Brad (Ronda). James is also survived by his grandchildren, Jim (Laura) Mills, Jacob (Heather) Mills, Matthew Mills, Ashlee (Nick) Kendrick, Adam (Eleanor) Mills, Taylor (Greg) Olmos, Rochelle (Sean) Daly, Beau (Alicia) Mills & 17 Great Grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Woodlake Cemetery on Tuesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. A lunch reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the Woodlake Presbyterian Church. Our family would like to sincerely thank the loving staff at Casa Grande Senior Care for their constant attention to Dad's needs.

Wish to add my condolences. My Father, Gene Whitney, and Jim were great friends. as a child I remember going to your house and playing with the boys...Lemons and Oranges were always a treat when we visited. I had a great 80's picture of your parents at the 2009 Whitney reunion.."family" ....always a ready smile...
