What a sad, sad event to have happened. My condolences are especially for Garrett's parents. From day care grade thru high school Garrett was at my house enough to be thought of like a nephew. Every place I took Jayson (my son) I usually took Garrett also.
Garrett's obituary certainly describes the person I knew; happy, outgoing, exuberant; everyone's friend. As Garrett's WYAA basketball coach and one of his football mentors, I can definitely attest to his love of sports. I was very happy that Garrett and Jayson got to play together on so many baseball, basketball, soccer, and football teams. Garrett definitely deserved to be one of the captains of the WHS football team.
It is with great heart felt sadness that I have to say goodbye to Garrett. He left us way too soon and with so much potential yet to be realized.
Vaya con Dios Garrett

Prayers for the family and know that GOD will continue to comfort and strengthen you. G. Scott (as I called him) was a very happy, sweet young man who always gave me the biggest hug ever with his beautiful smile. Everytime he came around the young kids he always had some encouraging words to say to them about life and football. My heart goes out to you all and he will be truly missed. (Met G. Scott through my nephew Curtis)

I will always remember your school days at Parmley Elementary. Many mornings we all would play basketball before school started. You usually beat all of us playing horse. You were truly a joy to coach during PE and the earily school program. I'm thankful for being a part of your elementary school days. Those memories I will hold dear. Thoughts and prayers to Gentry and the family. May God surround you all with his love and guide you in the coming days.

I didn't get to know you long, but in that short time I became quite fond of the sweet big hearted goofball you were. You were such a gentleman, and just a really good guy deep down. It really hurt my heart to hear that you were gone, but I'm happy that you're in a better place. Rest easy big guy. You'll be loved and missed dearly.

What a huge heart and soul. The best hugs ever! I will miss the bright smile he had when he was close to God. The world is full of challenges that pull us away from our Lord Jesus Christ- Garrett will be missed and remembered by all.
