I met Jim and Dee while working at Telemark. They were such wonderful folks. I visited Jim last summer at Washburn. We spent a super afternoon relaxing to the great sound of Jim's favorite Big Band CD's with Jean Ollis. Then Jim gave me a special treat and played a CD he had with a song sung by Jean and a band she had been with in the old days. I would love a copy of that CD.
I remember so clearly Jim and Dee's work with the Lions clown group along with my aunt Charlotte Reynolds. Great times. Wonderful memories.

To Jim's family: from Bob and Katie Rainer Venice, Fl.
We have not had the pleasure of Jim's company since shortly after we three
finished high school at Catholic Central in 1947. (Jim,Tammy and I) From what she has learned, Jim had a great family and a very interesting life. How lovely that he and Tammy were able to spend several of his last days in each others company. AND SO - JIM- from one great life to another, even better-eternal life! Please put in a good word for us and we'll try to catch up with you in Heaven.

My dear cousins, would that I could be there to mourn your loss, our loss, and hold you. And yet, perhaps you are finding much peace in your Dad's passing, knowing he is with your Mom, knowing he is with our Lord. Your Dad and Mom were people of God, and they are now people WITH God -- yes! I felt that very peace when Mom died, knowing she was going to see Dad - it was extraordinary. The peace that they all share, the fun they are having, wow. That is where my mind goes after the grief, and it's a good place. Love to you all.

My sympathy to all who loved Jim. The loss we feel will pass in time, but Jim's impact to our life will live on. I spent many years snowmobiling with Jim and Dee, and more hours than I care to remember on the school bus with their kids. What a great family! And now, Jim has joined Dee as another angel. God Bless you all.

My Uncle Jim was a wonderful example to our family. He always extended himself to others and had a deep faith in God. "No love can ever cross the path of our destiny without leaving a mark." Uncle Jim, you left your mark on me. I am a better person for knowing you and having you in my life. May God Bless my cousins and their families in the days ahead.

I want to express my sympathies to the family of Jim Hammerschmidt. I have only known Jim over the last few years through our Spiritual Adoption program at St. Joseph and St. Anns churches. When you get involved with people in the cause of "Protecting Life", you find yourself in the company of the most beautiful people. His heart was so full of love for the most innocent of life, that when I visited him with Holy Communion when he was obviously in much physical distress due to his illness, he just simply beamed with energy. I am so grateful I was able have even this limited relationship with Jim. God will surely bless such a wonderful servant.
