James Jeffrey Smith

Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Jim was born in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania and after living in Florida most of his life, he recently moved to Charlotte and then Wilmington NC. Jim was a floor manager at custom metal products in Wilmington, NC.
Jim is a Graduate of Lake Howell High school 1979 and he spent 11 years as a Sargent in the Marines. His Marine duty ended in 1990. Jim was a welder for years and had many talents working with his hands, working on cars, and working on his house. Jim's hobbies included trains, building rockets, fishing, the Smith Family grill master, gardening, spending time at the beach, and setting off fireworks. Jim was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan at heart and enjoyed his Sunday's watching and cheering on his favorite Black and Yellow team. Jim always showed honor, love, and respect to everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Elko Smith. Jim is also surrounded by his beautiful family, Mother, Mary Ann Smith (Detka deceased 2012), Father, James Smith (Larayne) Grandparents, Edward Detka and Mary Detka deceased) , and by his wonderful siblings Robin Smith Salzman (Jack) of Cornelius, NC, Gary Smith (Christine) of Huntersville, NC, Ronald Smith of Orlando, and Craig Smith (Holly) of Davidson NC. Uncle Jim was a hero to all his nieces and nephews and they will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held on Monday 11/28/16, Visitation 12-1pm, Service 1pm at Baldwin Fairchild East, 994 E. Altamonte Dr. Altamonte Springs, FL. Gravesite service to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, Florida.

How blessed a man Jimmy was to have had such love and support surround him for all of his days on Earth, and now to be lovingly welcomed by those who passed before him. God bless you all through these trying times now and ahead. Though far too young to pass and so difficult to understand why, rest assured knowing Jimmy is with our Heavenly Father at peace for eternity.
