"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough."
James L. (Larry) Jackson, Major, USAF (Ret), peacefully passed away September 14, 2017 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Memorial Services will be 11 AM, Monday, September 18, 2017 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
He was born May 8, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, the only son of Marion and Alice Cashion Jackson. He graduated from Embry Riddle University with a double masters and his love of learning led him to a life of travel. He spent 20 years in the Air Force as a pilot and instructor pilot and after retiring from USAF he continued his travels and adventures with his job in marketing at Lockheed Martin, Fort Worth. Not one to sit idle after his second retirement, he spent several semesters teaching at Midwestern State University hoping to impart his love of travel and learning to his students. Besides his love of his family and travel, he was an avid reader and had the most wonderful obsession with Christmas.
Larry was very active with the Wichita County Sheriff's community services and served as VP and Treasurer for WCSO Citizen's Alumni Association, receiving an award as Volunteer of the Year in 2016. He was a charter member of Wichita County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Alumni Association.
He is survived by his loving wife Cathy of 32 years; his amazing daughters: Leah Goodson and husband Thomas and Laura Jackson; 3 grandchildren: Keith Douglas, Kinsley Goodson and Dylan Goodson; sister: Sandra Doty; Sisters-in-law: Sandy McCarthy and Gail Ferguson and husband Skip Chappell; brother-in-law: Daniel Shiderly and wife Kay; his cat Rocky and a large number of cherished relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Larry has asked donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Cathy, we just heard the sad news from Marc Atherton. Please accept our condolences and know that you are in our hearts and minds. I had the enjoyment of working with Larry and traveling the world with him. He was a colleague, but most importantly, he was my friend. He will be missed.
