James Myron Benge –
Was born November 8th, 1940 to Porter and Vera Benge in Emmett, Idaho. Jim married Marilyn Lucille Heath, his high school sweetheart, on November 15th, 1958 in Emmett Idaho.
Jim and Marilyn have 3 children Rick (Paula) of E. Wenatchee, WA, Woody of Costa Mesa, CA, and Marci (Rob) of Snohomish, WA.
They moved to Brewster, WA in March of 1977. They moved to Davenport, WA in December of 2011.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn, their 3 children, 5 grandchildren: Olivia, Megan, Grace, Sydney, Audrey; brother Wesley Benge (Ruth) and sister Karalee Dobbs (Reg).
Jim had just turned 76 years old when he went to be with his loving Savior Sunday November 20th, 2016.
Jim worked many years as a powerplant operator. First at Black Canyon Dam in Emmett, then Anderson Ranch Dam in Mt. Home, Idaho and then after moving to Brewster, Chief Joseph Dam. In his youth, Jim was a farmer, milking cows, cutting hay, birthing calves and taking care of the family farm. His dog Oscar always at his side. After the chores were done, Jim loved playing sports. He was a member of DeMolay and a Mason.
The love of his life was his high school sweetheart Marilyn. They celebrated 58 years together just 5 days ago.
When grandma said 'no', the granddaughters all knew to go to Papa who would give in to his 'little sweethearts'. One thing all the grandkids wanted was for Papa to butter their bread, he always loaded the butter on making it 'mighty fine'. And sharing ice cream with Papa was always a special treat and the great tradition of making dough gobbies was a must, even in a blizzard. He loved his country music and when his kids started listening to it he stated "they are going to turn out alright".
Jim was a very kind and encouraging father. He always believed in his kids. He was friends with all and smiled lots despite his introverted nature. Many said "a quiet man he was, but when he spoke, we listened". He enjoyed his baseball; coaching little league, watching it and going to spring training. Jim was a jack of all trades, working as a mechanic, electrician, and overall handyman. He loved to tinker; taking things apart to see how they worked, then putting them back together gave him great satisfaction. Loyalty and honesty above all else described his character. He will be missed by all of us, especially his wife of 58 years, Marilyn. As requested by Jim, there will be no services. Memorials in Jim's name may be made to any local charity. Please feel free to sign the online guest book at www.stratefuneralhome.com. STRATE FUNERAL HOME, DAVENPORT, WA is caring for the Benge family.

Every time I saw Uncle Jim he was so kind to me. He had a gentle, sweet nature and he didn't have to say much to know that he had a beautiful soul. I'm grateful for his life and grateful for his love as a big brother to my mom. I love you Aunt Marilyn, Rick, Woody and Marci. May God bless and comfort you always. Hugs and prayers for you and your families.

I love this quote by Thornton Wilder..."The highest tribute to the dead, is not grief but gratitude." I am so grateful for my memories of a protective, loving, and kind older brother. Reg and I both have the greatest admiration for the example he was to us as a devoted husband and father and grandfather. Marilyn, you were Jim's angel here on earth. May God bless and comfort you and your children and grandchildren at this time. We love you forever.
