James "Whit" Davis, 48, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Wichita Falls. He was born on August 3, 1968 in Ft. Worth, TX to the late J C Davis and Nadine Abbott Davis. On November 16, 1991 he married Elaine Daffern in Wichita Falls. For more than 18 years James was a Correctional Officer at the James V. Allred Unit at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He also worked part time for the Wichita Falls Sheriff's Office as a jailor. James was a member of Lamar Baptist Church and was a member of the Peace Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Davis of Wichita Falls; children, Rylee, Trace and Mallory Davis of Wichita Falls; brothers, Allen Davis of Archer City and Zane Moseley of Colorado; sister, Nisha Wise of Missouri; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brett Moseley.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Lamar Baptist Church with David Odom officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Rachels, Marsha Rawlinson, Bobby Johnson, Mandy Greenup, Mike Wilson, Bo Davis, and Duane Easter.
