Dear Sue and Family
Sorry to hear the news about Jim. As a neighborhood kid growing up with your family, I always remember that if I was standing to close to the car on the driveway, Jim would stick a rag in my hand and tell me (and anyone else standing around) to wipe down the car. To this day, I sitll think of him when I wash my car! He may have been gruff on the outside, but deep down he was a softie. May his memory be a blessing to all.

He called me "the farmer" when we showed up to golf. When we left he would tell us I'll see you tomorrow. I shall miss his joking with us. Our prayers are with him and his family.

Dear Africa Family,

I'm very sorry to hear about Jim. I met him shortly after he moved to Redding and opened the Jiffy Mart. He was a kind, funny, classy and a hard working guy.

We talked about sports and also about TV shows like 'Hart to Hart' and 'The Fall Guy' which he was involved with I believe. Jeff Pew, Dana McLemore, Kevin Fidell and Danny Andrago were some of the people he told me about.

I went to a football game with his son Jay at the Univ. of Oregon in 1981 to watch Jay's Venice High classmate Pew play in. Jim and Jay were both great people. I will always remember them.

To The Entire Africa Family,
Condolences to each and every one of you.
I remember Jim from Jiffy Mart. However, I really got to know and LOVE HIM at the golf course. To say he will be missed is an under statement. Jim was one in a million, positive, always upbeat, funny beyond belief, HONEST, a truly HARD WORKER, and a pretty darn good golfer,(when his back wasn't hurting). He loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. I can hear his laughter and see his smile. His passing is a great loss to many. I only hope there is CROWN ROYAL in heaven. I do and will miss you my FRIEND. We're happy to donate to the Heart Association in your name because you had such a great big heart!

To Jim's family....
I am SO very sorry for your loss. Jim was such a kind and giving person. My family knew him from Jiffy Mart days...and carried the friendship over to Allan's. My boys are "daily" golfers in the summer...and living next to the course...they would walk up and Jim would welcome them with his big smile...and always had words of adivces and support. They always came home with stories that usually included Jim ..... and what they learned from him.
Rest in Peace Jim....you will be greatly missed.

To Jim's loved ones,

My husband and I are very sorry for your loss.

We came to know Jim, and his brother Rich, at his little market on Eastside road. Jim always had a friendly smile and welcoming attitude, which conveyed his true appreciation for his customers. Because we lived fairly close to his store, and frequented it often, we were able to get to know Jim a little more than some. When I was 7 months pregnant, my husband and I decided to remodel our bathrooms. The remodel project took our bathrooms out of commission during each day, for a week. At 7 months pregnant not having a bathroom for 8 hours a day is a BIG issue! Jim made it clear to me that, I WAS to make his store my second home. If I needed anything at all, he would help in anyway he could. Jim made me feel like I was family. My husband and I were really disappointed when Jim closed his business, of course, it was purely selfish on our part. We knew that it meant, we wouldn't be seeing him much anymore. In the years since, my husband has been lucky enough to run into Jim in town, and on the golf course. My husband said each time he ran into him that, Jim would stop what he was doing to visit and "catch up".

We want you to know that, Jim had a positive impact on our lives, as we are sure he did with others.

Jim, we will see you again!

I remember Jim from "Jiffy Mart" days, living in the Bonnyview area that was our go to store. Jim was always friendly and helpful. So sorry this has happened. He was a great man.
