James S. Alessi, 95, beloved husband of Lucy M. Alessi, since 1944 of Jamestown, NY passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at their home in Agawam, MA after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 9, 1918 in Falconer, NY to the late Vincent and Josephine (Trabon) Alessi. James attended and graduated Class President with 5 athletic letters from Falconer High School in 1938. He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Core in China. James S. Alessi, 95, beloved husband of Lucy M. Alessi, since 1944 of Jamestown, NY passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at their home in Agawam, MA after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 9, 1918 in Falconer, NY to the late Vincent and Josephine (Trabon) Alessi.
James attended and graduated Class President with 5 athletic letters from Falconer High School in 1938. He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Core in China. Following his national service James resided for over twenty years with his wife in Jamestown, NY where they raised their family. He worked as a mold pattern designer employed by Chautauqua Hardware Corporation Jamestown, NY for over 20 years. Following this James became employed by the New York State Thruway as a Toll Collector in Rochester, NY retiring after 15 years and moving to the Pinellas Park/Clearwater, FL where they enjoyed 25 years of retirement. He was a devoted Catholic, who was truly a family man who cared about everyone else. At times he worked two or three jobs to support his family. He was a parishioner/member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Feeding Hills, MA. He was a loving and devoted father of three children.
In addition to his wife Lucy of 70 years, James will be clearly missed by: his sons, Robert Alessi and his wife Teresa of Puyallup, WA, James P. Alessi and his wife Jackie of Greece, NY as and his daughter Rosemary Ward of East Granby, CT. In addition James is survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
James was predeceased by 7 siblings: Joseph Alessi, Saro Alessi, Russell Alessi, Samual Alessi, Teresa Alessi Ribaudo, Rose Alessi, and Mary Alessi Cardinale all of Falconer, NY.
There will be a Funeral Mass held on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Parish of Feeding Hills, 1103 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
