James L. Alex Sr, of Grand Prairie , Tx , died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Charleston Methodist Hospital in Dallas , Tx , He was 71. He was born on December 4th, 1941 in Natchitoches , La. to the late Louis Alex and Pearl Jackson. He attended Natchitoches Central High School , where he played the Trombone in the band receiving 1st Place Honors in Band Competition. He graduated in 1961 receiving a 4 year Scholarship to Grambling College . He enlisted in the US Navy shortly after. In 1962, he married Gloria D. He was born on December 4th, 1941 in Natchitoches , La. to the late Louis Alex and Pearl Jackson. He graduated in 1961 receiving a 4 year Scholarship to Grambling College . He enlisted in the US Navy shortly after. In 1962, he married Gloria D. LaCaze and to this union 2 children were born, James Alex, Jr ( Grand Prairie , Tx ) and Tiffani Harper ( Vallejo , California ). After the untimely death of Gloria he later married two beautiful women, Wanda J. Scott and then Ethel Pullard. Each helped Jim to raise his children with love and warmth. James "Jim" retired as a Material Handler at Vought Aerospace and dedicated himself to making sure his co-workers were motivated by cooking lunches for anyone that wanted it during his own lunch time! A simply unique soul, Jim was very funny, and enjoyed playing and listening to Jazz and Blues and always touched hearts with his smile. He will be greatly missed. Predeceased in death by his mother - Pearl Jackson, his father - Louis Alex, his Sister, Bessie Mae Alex and Brother – Edgar Alex, He is survived by his son and daughter; several grandchildren – Kristie, Breanna, Armon, Bryce, one great grandson - Deshawn, his devoted long time friend - Ellen Tolliver and her grandson – Elijah and a host of relatives and friends.
