James William Arters, 75, of Fort Smith, passed away Tuesday November 23, 2010. He was born March 19, 1935 in Jamestown, NY to Jerome and Grace Arters. He was retired from Rheem Manufacturing. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict in Special Services and he served in the Army National Guard of Arkansas as a Medical Specialist. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Grace Arters and two brothers William and Don Arters all of Jamestown, NY.
Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 26, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Dyer officiating. Burial of cremains will be at U.S. National Cemetery with Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife Norma, three sons Gerald Arters and wife Diana of Conway, AR, David William Arters and wife Tet of Fort Smith and Richard Dale Arters and wife Brigida of Fort Smith, two grandchildren James Alan Arters and wife Mahlet and Kimberly Tibbs and husband Dusty and two great grandchildren Gideon Laviane Churchill Arters and Callie Ann Tibbs, two step-grandchildren Jojo Tomandao and wife Juliana and Jeannie Judd and husband Randy and two step-great grandchildren Zachary and Jessica Judd.
The family will visit with friends Friday morning before the Memorial Service from 9:00 AM until service time.
