Rev. James Lee Bloom Sr. 77, of Medina, NY departed from this life on Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home, with his loving family at his side. Born on August 24, 1935, in Fort Valley, GA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Annie Mae (McCray) Bloom. James was the acting Pastor of The Church of Brotherly Love in Elba, NY for over 30 years. James worked at ABEX for 19 yrs, then at Fisher-Price for 9 Years, then went on to retire. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 yrs and 6 months. James loved to spend time with his family, taking walks, fishing and preaching the word of God! Rev. James Lee Bloom Sr. 77, of Medina, NY departed from this life on Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home, with his loving family at his side.

Born on August 24, 1935, in Fort Valley, GA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Annie Mae (McCray) Bloom.

James was the acting Pastor of The Church of Brotherly Love in Elba, NY for over 30 years. James worked at ABEX for 19 yrs, then at Fisher-Price for 9 Years, then went on to retire. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 yrs and 6 months. James loved to spend time with his family, taking walks, fishing and preaching the word of God! James was a strong patriarch of his family and believed in family unity and love for all. He was strong willed and believed in standing up for his rights. He was a active presence in the community, which included caring for and raising numerous children, which led him becoming a great foster parent for 22 yrs.
James is predeceased by a brother, 2 sons, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
James leaves to cherish his memories of his loving wife, Edna Mae, 3 brothers, Albert (Aldora) of Medina, Richard (Tracy) of Columbus, OH, and Leon of Batavia, 2 sisters, Joyce and Velma of Columbus, OH, 7 children: Edward, Anthony, Amir, Raymond, Norman and Marie, all of Medina and Maryann (Vince Sr,) of Michigan. A God send to the family, Angel Kio, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends world wide. ~He was a diehard Bills fan~

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God, 324 Catherine St. Medina, NY , with the Rev. Aldora Bloom officiating. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.
