The late James Lucious Boyd Jr. also known as (aka) Loonie and JB was born on January 30, 1951, in Pompano Beach, FL to James Lucious Boyd Sr. and Wadrine Boyd. He attended the public schools of Broward County and after graduating from Blanche Ely High School, he joined the United States Navy. James received his Associates Degree in General Studies from Florida State College of Jacksonville.

While serving in the United States Navy, James was deployed to several countries and served on various Navy Carriers overseas where he worked in the capacity of an AQ - Aviation Fire Control Technician. He later answered the call of duty to serve in Jacksonville, FL, where he planted his roots and began to call it his home. During his time of serving in the Jacksonville area he met the love of his life Wanda Gail Wilson and was married within two years. They celebrated 39 years of marriage on September 9, 2013. After serving our country for twenty years he retired as a First Class Petty Officer.

James volunteered at Hyde Grove Elementary School, Chets Creek Elementary School (fifteen plus years), Landon Middle School, Lavilla Performing Arts School; Douglas Anderson Performing Arts High School, and Dansations Performing Arts Center. He has left his mark in many places and most of all, in the lives of many people.
