James Edward Brown, age 88, passed on November 26, 2013 in Port Orange, FL. He was born on July 15, 1925 in Dover, New Jersey to John and Lillian Brown. He later joined the United States Navy and served in World War 2, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy and became a proud member of the Retired Cryptologic Association. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Maryland. After 21 years with the Navy, James served with the Civil Service, traveling the country as an advisor with the government. James is predeceased by his son, John Edward Brown, a Marine Chief Warrant Officer. He is survived by his caring wife, Emma Jean Whorley Brown, his son James Otis Brown of Maryland, three step-children: Steven (Carmen) of Missouri, Sue of Daytona Beach, and Rae (Ed) of Deland. He also leaves behind two nephews: Russell Vanderbush (Nancy), George Vanderbush (Ineka) of New Jersey, and one niece: Marsha Vanderbush of New Jersey, as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all, especially his beloved companion, Bebe, the pug.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Halifax Humane Society.
