James Christopher Calhoun, 61, of Castle Rock, died Sunday the 29th of December 2013. He was born to Jack and Nida Calhoun, August 13, 1952, in Grand Island, NE. Jim graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1970. There after met the love of his life, Debra F. Mayer, and married her in 1976. After relocating multiple times, they settled in Castle Rock, CO in 1998. Jim had an affluent career with Kraft foods and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. James Christopher Calhoun, 61, of Castle Rock, died Sunday the 29th of December 2013.

He was born to Jack and Nida Calhoun, August 13, 1952, in Grand Island, NE. Jim graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1970. There after met the love of his life, Debra F. Mayer, and married her in 1976. After relocating multiple times, they settled in Castle Rock, CO in 1998.

Jim had an affluent career with Kraft foods and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. He was an active member in the diversity and inclusion programs within the company and was honored with multiple awards including the Sales Leadership award, one of the most prestigious symbols of superior achievement within sales.

Jim was also very involved in his parish, The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and he was also a co-member of St. Francis of Assisi in Castle Rock, CO. During his devotion to his catholic faith, he became a 4th degree Knight as a Knights of Columbus member, and he was a frequent leader of the rosary at many parishes throughout his
life. Furthermore, he was delighted to be a member of choir for Saint Anne Parish in Hamel, MN for a number of years. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed the game from a young age playing his final round just this last Friday surrounded by love ones. He was not only a caring and compassionate man, but a strong and affectionate Father and Husband.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother John Calhoun. Jim is survived by his wife, Debra Calhoun, and their two children: Sarah Venessa, of Castle Rock; and Alison Rachel, of Aurora. He is survived by 3 sisters; Fran Schaeffer of Grand Island, NE, Mary Goddard of Penokee, KS, Kate Lingo of Las Vegas, NV, and his brother, Joe Calhoun of Empire CO. He also is survived by six grandchildren: Javier and Frances Hoggard; Isadora and Briana Gaskins; Luis and Kiara Barrios

If a memorial contribution is in your heart, the family is requesting that donations of red roses be made to the church's ceremony.

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday 1st of January 2014, followed by the viewing from 6:30p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Castle Rock, CO. The following morning, Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, Burial will be held after Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, and a reception in memorial of Jim will follow Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
