Obituary

James W. Clark was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday night, March 4 th 2013. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 14th 1929, the son of the late William I. and Lora Wallingford Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Tollesboro High School, Morehead State University, where he obtained his A.B., Masters and Rank 1 degrees. Mr Clark served in the Air Force Reserve and Army Reserve for over 30 years. He retired from the Army Reserve with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a retired educator from the Lewis County School System. He began his career in a one room school at Oak Ridge in Lewis County. ...
James W. Clark was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday night, March 4 th 2013. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 14th 1929, the son of the late William I. and Lora Wallingford Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Tollesboro High School, Morehead State University, where he obtained his A.B., Masters and Rank 1 degrees.
Mr Clark served in the Air Force Reserve and Army Reserve for over 30 years. He retired from the Army Reserve with the rank of Master Sergeant.
He was a retired educator from the Lewis County School System. He began his career in a one room school at Oak Ridge in Lewis County. He taught in Tollesboro High School for 9 years and Lewis County High School for 2 years. He was a principal of Edison Elementary School in Boyd County for 3 years. He became Director of Federal Programs for Lewis County Schools and retired in 1987 as Superintendent of Lewis County School System.
Mr. Clark was a member of Tollesboro Christian Church, Stone City Masonic Lodge in Garrison, Ky, Eastern Star Alum City 222. He served on the Board of Buffalo Trace for 15 years and was Chairman for 2 years. He also served on the board of the Maysville Community College and was a member of Licking Valley CAP.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Young Clark, whom he married June 8th 1961; two sons, James W. (Claudia) Clark, Jr. of Camp Pendleton, Ca and David P. (Michelle) Clark of Cincinnati, Oh; 3 grandchildren, James W. Clark III, Molly Clark and Meghan Clark., one brother, Robert P. (Rose) Clark of New Market, Md.
Services will be conducted by Rev. John Moore on Saturday March 9th at 11:00 AM at the Tollesboro Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Active pallbearers are James W. Clark III, Ronnie Helphenstine, Kirby Wright, Jim Meadows, Anthony Applegate and Alan Bane. Honorary Pallbearers are Gerald Meadows, Paul Dugan, Larry Tucker, Darrell Dixon, Jeff Geagley, Johnny O'Cull and Bob Bane.
Visitation for Mr. Clark will be held at the Tollesboro Christian Church in Tollesboro, KY from 6:00 PM to 8:00 pm on Friday March 8th 2013.
