James Stuart Cook ("Jim") was born in Gary, Indiana, on April 22, 1922. In 1942, Jim volunteered to serve in the U.S. Infantry during World War II (7th (Custer) Division, 403rd, Field Artillery, Battery B). He was awarded numerous medals for his valor; including three Bronze Stars and an Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, and was discharged as a First Lieutenant in November 1945. Jim graduated from The University of Arkansas, and afterwards, worked for his mentor, H. T. McGill. In 1975, Jim started his own company, J-Chem, and obtained several patents, including the J-System, which improved the recirculation of air and fumigant...

In 1942, Jim volunteered to serve in the U.S. Infantry during World War II (7th (Custer) Division, 403rd, Field Artillery, Battery B). He was awarded numerous medals for his valor; including three Bronze Stars and an Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, and was discharged as a First Lieutenant in November 1945. Jim graduated from The University of Arkansas, and afterwards, worked for his mentor, H. T. McGill. In 1975, Jim started his own company, J-Chem, and obtained several patents, including the J-System, which improved the recirculation of air and fumigant within a closed environment. His patents are still utilized today. Jim successfully operated J-Chem until its sale to Degesch America in 1990. In the 1970's, Jim enjoyed serving as a coach of his sons' football and baseball teams in the Sharpstown area. In his retirement, Jim was an avid racket ball player, photographer and story teller.
A devoted husband, Jim placed his highest priority on his wife, Robbie Lee Cook, to whom he was married 65 years.
Jim led his life by the creed: "Lead, follow or get the Hell out of the way."
He is survived by his wife, Robbie, and their four children, Debbie Lee Mott, James Kevin Cook, David Stuart Cook and Michael Ray Cook, and eleven grandchildren: Michelle and Carolyn Mott, and Kaitlin, Madelyn, Addison, Zane, Connor, McKenna, Emily, Sarah and Keith Cook. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Katherine Cook, and his sister, Robin Cook Frear.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 1st. A private, graveside funeral will be held for family members
